Two Shootings in Two Hours: Brooklyn Park Police Ask for Help IDing Suspects
Brooklyn Park police are asking the public for help identifying suspects involved in two shootings on Thursday night. They’ve released video asking for the public’s help identifying the perpetrators.
Police say they worked with business owners to close businesses near 63rd Avenue and Zane Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. A statement by Brooklyn Park police says the decision was made to protect the safety of residents after two shootings happened within two hours.
According to police, an officer heard someone fire eight rounds in the area around 6 p.m. Then, a second shooting happened around 7:42 p.m. while police officers were on another call. Police say one individual was shot in the leg during the second shooting.
So far, no arrests have been made and police are trying to identify suspects.
Brooklyn Park police say the city has seen a drastic increase in violent crime in the area over the past four weeks as large groups continue to gather. In the past three weeks, police say there have been five shootings and an increase in other incidents involving weapons.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brooklyn Park Police Department at 763-493-8222.
