Two Golden Valley Council Members Won’t Seek Re-Election
Two Golden Valley City Council members say they’re wrapping up their time in local government.
Gillian Rosenquist and Denise La Mere-Anderson are not planning to run for re-election.
Both of their terms are set to expire at the end of this year.
La Mere-Anderson was elected to the council in 2021.
“After careful reflection, I’ve decided not to seek re-election,” she wrote in a letter to the editor published in the Sun Post. “This allows me to focus on personal and professional priorities while making space for new voices to lead. I remain deeply optimistic about Golden Valley’s future and grateful for the opportunity to have served.”
Meanwhile, Rosenquist has served two terms on the council.
“The highlight of service is engaging with our community; I’ve loved getting to know the breadth and depth of our city in every corner,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “However, personal losses have made it clear that time spent with my family and friends is more precious than ever.”
The 2025 election is scheduled for Nov. 4.
