Twin Sisters Turned Entrepreneurs Bring Beauty to Plymouth with Abella Aesthetics
Abella Aesthetics is one of a handful of med spas in Plymouth. But it’s the only one owned by twin sisters.
While Kendall and Britni Abell are living their childood dream, their road to entrepreneurship was one neither saw coming.
After graduating from Champlin Park High School in 2005, Kendall attended nursing school while Britni focused on a business degree.
They got married and started families. Kendall moved to the South while Britni stayed in Minnesota.
But years later, both sisters found themselves a single mom of four children. They each have three sons and one daugther.
“So, my sister moved home,” explained Britni. “And we always had an idea of owning a business together.”
They decided to combine their business and nursing expertise to form Abella Aesthetics, a play on their last name and bella, which means beauty.
Their business offers a wide-range of treatments, such as injectables, facials and peels, dermaplaning, microneedling and IV hydration therapy.
Kendall, a nurse practitioner with years of experience in the aesthetics industry, likes to think of herself as an artist.
“I see so many people walking around that look the same from Botox and fillers,” explained Kendall. “My [idea of] art is to look at somebody and enhance what they have; their beauty, their individuality. I think uniqueness is beautiful.”
Britni, who previously worked in finance and accounting, became a stay-at-home mom when she had her fourth child.
“I didn’t even think that I could do my laundry when I was staying home, and now I’m running a business, have four kids, I’m single, mowing the grass, so it’s like, you are capable of doing it… you just have to believe in yourself,” said Britni.
A Reimagined Dream Come True
It could be said that Abella Aesthetics was a forgotten idea, one that was recently unearthed when Britni came across a box of keepsakes.
“I actually found a little brochure that I created in middle school or high school that basically said the same motto as what our business is today,” explained Britni. “You too can have a natural glow.“
As for the notion of sibling rivalry, Britni says that’s never been an issue for them.
“We’re more like a team… we believe that if she’s strong and I’m strong, we’re strongest.”
