Tubing Hill at Elm Creek Park Reserve Wraps Up Short Season
Warmer temperatures have prompted the closing of the tubing hill at Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove, but downhill skiing and snowboarding will continue until Sunday.
The winter season was a rather warm one, with stick-able snow finally arriving in the days before Christmas. This year’s season was also one that required reservations to encourage social distancing and COVID-19 precautions.
“We are seeing less and less people. Traditionally, when people lose snow in their backyard, they don’t really think winter anymore and we don’t see them coming out in the park as much,” said Sam Kiesow with Three Rivers Park District. “The people we are seeing still this season are people who have their own skis or pass to come visit this cross country ski trail, or downhill skiing and snowboarding areas.”
If you’d like to try out cross country skiing, the park is still renting out cross country skis.
