Robbinsdale’s Travail Planning Move to New Building
Big changes could be on the way for a popular Robbinsdale restaurant. CCX News has learned that the owners of Travail are considering building a brand new space across the street from its current location.
According to Robbinsdale city officials, the Performance Meals building on West Broadway would be torn down to make way for a brand new $1 million building to be used by Travail. The main kitchen and restaurant would be on the first floor, and the second level would have more seating and open into an exterior terrace.
“We’re pretty excited about having a rooftop and giving people the ability to hang out on top of a building in downtown Robbinsdale,” said Travail co-owner Mike Brown, who spoke at this week’s meeting of the Robbinsdale Economic Development Authority.
Travail owners are asking the city to help finance the removal and demolition of the old building. Travail will also apply for a grant from Hennepin County to cover some of the cost to get the site ready for redevelopment.
Plans are very preliminary. But if everything goes as planned, Pig Ate My Pizza would move into the current Travail spot and the owner of Marna’s Cafe would open a new restaurant where Pig Ate My Pizza is located.
