Three Teens Shot in Fracas at Golden Valley’s Lions Park
Golden Valley police continued to search for possible suspects Monday after a shots-fired incident at Lions Park early Sunday morning.
Golden Valley Police Chief Virgil Green said officers were called at 4 a.m. to the park on Louisiana Avenue N. One teenager was found on site with a gunshot wound.
Later investigations from Brooklyn Park police found two other teenagers, one in Brooklyn Park and one in Minneapolis, with gunshot wounds. Injuries to the three teens shot were not life-threatening, police said.
Green said police believe those injured were connected to the Lions Park shooting. He also said the incident is part of a larger trend.
“Large groups of juveniles are showing up in parks, even Minneapolis, after midnight, or 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning, where a large gathering of people are there,” Green said. “Sometimes they get into altercations, and these types of incidents happen.”
Two witnesses were found on site in Golden Valley, but Green said they were not cooperative.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. If you live in the neighborhood and have information or outdoor camera footage to share, Green asks that you contact Golden Valley police. The department’s phone number is 763-593-8079. You can also submit a tip to the sheriff’s office by calling 1-888-988-TIPS.
