Three Rivers Parks District Hopes for Early Ski Season
Early snow and cold temperatures are prompting Three Rivers Parks District top open cross country ski trails at the Elm Creek Park Reserve as early as next week, which would make it the earliest opening ever for the trails.
The park just started blowing snow two days ago and there’s already a good a coating mixing in with the snow falling from the sky.
“The important thing for us is making sure we have a solid foundation so we can get some of our heavy equipment out here,” says Dominic Ray with Three Rivers Park District. “It’s crazy how dependent we are on Mother Nature and as soon as she allows, we really go into full action.”
Ray says the phone is ringing off the hook with people wanting to use the trails and hills at Elm Creek Park Reserve. He believes weather depending, the park could be open as early as next week. Keep an eye on social media for updates.
Three Rivers is also hiring for the winter season. They need ski instructors and attendants for the tubing hill.
