Three Plead Guilty in Brooklyn Park Shoe Robbery Shooting
Four men were charged in connection with a Brooklyn Park shooting that injured three this spring.
As of this week, three of them have pleaded guilty. Prosecutors say the shooting stemmed from a shoe sale turned robbery.
On Tuesday, Jayquann Kennedy, of St. Paul, pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting assault.
Meanwhile, Deneco Plentyhourse, of Columbia Heights, pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison.
Ledale Robinson, of Brooklyn Park, pleaded guilty to fleeing police and was sentenced to just over two months in the county workhouse.
Corey Stewart will go to trial for robbery and assault in January.
Two of the three people shot during the incident were also defendants. Kennedy and Stewart, along with a victim, sustained gunshot wounds during the incident, court records showed.
According to prosecutors, two people parked a vehicle in the 3500 block of Brookdale Drive on April 11 with the intent to sell a pair of shoes.
After they parked, they were boxed-in by another vehicle. Several men wearing masks approached the vehicle. At least one of the masked men began firing gunshots into the vehicle, striking one person.
This victim sustained “serious, but non-life threatening” wounds, according to the criminal complaint.
Police say they later found Plentyhorse, Stewart and Kennedy in or near a vehicle involved in the incident. They were parked outside a townhome, where police later found several handguns. Police also found Stewart and Kennedy to be in possession of black masks.
According to the criminal complaint, police believed Robinson transported a suspect in the crime before getting into a car chase with police. He crashed into a construction sign on Highway 252 and was arrested.
