Suspect in New Hope Murder Case Arrested in Western Wisconsin
Law enforcement officials in western Wisconsin arrested a suspect in a New Hope murder case on Saturday.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, 32-year-old Jack Guy was arrested in a rural apartment near Balsam Lake.
He’s a suspect in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Carnell Johnson Jr.
Johnson was shot in the chest in a New Hope townhome on Oct. 24. He later died in the hospital.
New Hope police said the incident was not random and the shooter, who ran from the scene, likely knew the victim.
Law enforcement in Hennepin County issued a warrant for Guy’s arrest on suspicion of second-degree murder.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team arrested Guy around 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 2 without incident and booked him in the county jail.
Hennepin County officials are working to have him extradited to Minnesota.
New Hope police and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the shooting.
