Brooklyn Park police say one suspect is in custody after a reported armed robbery Tuesday at Hennepin Technical College in Brooklyn Park.
According to a release from the Brooklyn Park Police Department, officers were dispatched at 12:31 p.m. to the college on Brooklyn Boulevard, which initiated lockdown protocols.
The release said officers learned that a robbery occurred outdoors on campus and the suspect, who was believed to be armed with a handgun, fled inside. Police say officers found the suspect hiding in a bathroom and took him into custody without further incident.
Hennepin Tech remained on lockdown Tuesday afternoon as officers conducted a safety sweep. An all-clear was issued and activities resumed once officers determined no further threat.
No one was injured in the ordeal, police said.
Officials from Hennepin Technical College released a statement late Tuesday afternoon, calling it “a very unfortunate event.”
“We understand that this was a traumatic event for all those on campus and appreciate the quick response from our staff, faculty, students, and local police departments,” the statement said.
