Suspect Accused of Pistol-Whipping Woman, Assaulting Another
A Brooklyn Park man faces criminal charges after allegedly pistol-whipping one woman and assaulting another in his apartment.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s office charged Deondre Gresham, 36, with making reckless threats of violence, possession of a sawed-off shotgun and first-degree drug possession.
According to the criminal complaint:
On June 28, dispatch sent Brooklyn Park police to the Autumn Ridge Apartments. They had received a report of an assault.
The victim told dispatch that she had been pistol-whipped by a man in his apartment. She said another woman was in the apartment with Gresham, who had kicked that woman in the head.
According to the victim, the suspect had pointed a loaded and cocked handgun at her.
“The caller told police that [Gresham] had become paranoid after a woman came to the apartment door and began to threaten both women with a silver gun,” the complaint reads. “The caller was able to get out of the apartment and ran to a neighbor to call for help.”
Officers arrived and broke down the door the apartment. They found Gresham and a woman inside.
Police saw drugs sitting in plain view in the apartment, the complaint said. Officers also found saw a stainless steel handgun and a sawed-off shotgun.
The woman in the apartment was in a romantic relationship with Gresham and was uncooperative with police.
Police later searched Gresham’s apartment. Officers found marijuana, counterfeit pills, methamphetamine and cocaine.
According to the criminal complaint, police also found “over 25 grams of white powdery substance which was divided into tie-off bags.”
The district court set Gresham’s bail at $100,000.
