Student Art and Design Showcased at North Hennepin Community College
Fans of graphic and studio design can find award-winning artwork on display at North Hennepin Community College (NHCC).
The college is hosting its 24th Student Art and Design Show. It features 35 works of art from 11 categories including drawing, ceramics, painting and photography.
“It … takes my breath away — it’s my ninth year,” said Kathy Hendrickson, interim director of community impact at NHCC. “I’m like, is it getting better every year or is it just me? But I think it’s getting better every year.”
All NHCC students were eligible to submit works to the contest, and the college received 139 entries.
“The caliber of artist and caliber of student we have here at North Hennepin — also the caliber of our programs, our graphic design program and our art program, and all of our arts programs here just really give voice to these amazing students,” Hendrickson said.
The art show runs through April 26 in the NHCC Joseph Gazzuolo Art Gallery. Admission is free and open to the public.
Four judges considered the entries.
Judge Peyton Scott Russell is an artist and the director of SPRAYFiNGER, a graffiti arts education organization.
Meanwhile, judges Gina Dabrowki, and Leslie McDougall are affiliated with NHCC. Judge Will Agar is a former NHCC employee.
