Stolen Car Chase Starts in Robbinsdale, Crashes Into Brooklyn Park Home
A teenage in a stolen car led Robbinsdale police on a chase early Wednesday morning. It ended when he crashed into a house in Brooklyn Park.
According to the Robbinsdale Police Department, a police officer saw a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on County Road 81.
Police soon suspected the driver was intoxicated after he passed two vehicles on the right shoulder.
An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver fled the scene. Police gave chase and tried to stop the vehicle using a PIT maneuver and Stop Sticks.
The chase led to Brooklyn Park, and members of the Crystal Police Department and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office joined in the chase.
The suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a home near 74th Way and West River Road.
While the suspect fled the scene on foot, he was apprehended shortly after the crash with the help of a K-9 unit.
Police say the driver was a 15-year-old boy from Minneapolis. He was driving a vehicle that had been stolen earlier that night without the owner’s knowledge.
The suspect was booked into the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center on probable cause for felony counts of theft and fleeing police.
