Suspect Accused of Assaulting State Trooper During Brooklyn Center Traffic Stop
A Minnesota State Patrol Trooper is recovering after authorities say he was assaulted while responding to a Brooklyn Center traffic accident.
According to state authorities, troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash near Highway 252 and 70th Avenue shortly after 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Reports say during the incident that a 38-year-old man from Zimmerman physically assaulted one of the troopers. Authorities say the trooper deployed a Taser and the suspect was eventually detained with the assistance of a good Samaritan.
The trooper and suspect were both taken to North Memorial Health Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The man was booked at Hennepin County jail under suspicion of first-degree DWI, fourth-degree assault along with other driver’s license-related violations.
