Standout Student: West Lutheran’s Cole Abbott
Cole Abbott helped organize the most recent blood drive at West Lutheran High School in Plymouth.
“It’s a really nice way to support the community because people are physically seeing and they realize they are helping out the others around them instead of just bringing in their money and giving it to a charity,” said Abbott, a senior and standout student at the school.
Abbott isn’t just an outstanding volunteer, he’s smart too. He is a member of the National Honor Society and a straight-A student.
But Abbott’s passion is fishing.
“During the summer, my favorite thing is fishing,” explained Abbott, who also competes in fishing tournaments.
Abbott even organized the school’s fishing team three years ago.
“I actually come to him for advice on how to catch fish, which I never expected that,” said instructor Nathan Veach. “He’s the only person at school who likes fishing more than I do.”
Veach says Abbott is also passionate about his faith.
“It bubbles out of him,” said Veach. “He’s one of those kids that can talk about his faith and his faith life so authentically and so genuinely.”
Abbott hopes to pursue a career in dentistry.
