Standout Student: Providence Academy’s Celia Raney
Providence Academy Student Celia Raney is not just book smart. She’s also athletic and artistic. Raney says she doesn’t mind juggling a lot of different things because she’s passionate about everything she does.
There’s a good chance you will find Raney hanging around the science lab. She has worked on several major research projects, including one in Costa Rica. Currently, she’s working on soil applications. The samples are from outside Providence Academy.
“We put two different treatments on the soil, said Raney. “We put fertilizer and then the new product from precision organics.”
Dr. Yvonne Boldt has worked on three research projects with Raney.
“When it comes to science, I really think that Celia can do whatever she wants to do. She’s got the passion, she’s got the dedication, “said Dr. Boldt.
Celia Raney is a member of the National Honor Society and is on the Varsity Cross Country Team.
The senior also has an artistic side. Raney is editor of the Yearbook and is busy putting the final touches on this year’s edition.
The successful scholar says it takes a lot of determination and hard work to juggle all these things, but it’s worth it.
“Everything that I do, I do because I love them,” said Raney. “Why else would you do them?”
Raney is also a chamber choir member. She’s applied to several and colleges, but Emory University in Atlanta is her top choice. She hopes to study biochemistry.
