Standout Student: Hopkins Senior Zoe Sax
From arts and academics to athletics, Hopkins High School senior Zoe Sax does it all. She is no stranger to hard work. A National Honor Society member, math and science are her favorite subjects.
When she’s not hitting the books, music is a preferred way to unwind. Zoe has been playing the violin for 12 years.
“It’s nice to have the alternative to all the academics, to have that fun part as well,” she said.
Variety of Passions
Zoe is also on the Hopkins ultimate frisbee club.
“I’m a cutter, so I’m in the stack, and I’m cutting to get the disc to help us move toward our end zone,” she explained.
Protecting the environment is another passion. Zoe is a member of the Earth Club.
“We’re working on getting a bee garden into our school so that will help with the pollinators and bee populations as well,” Zoe said about the club’s efforts.
The senior has a big heart for helping others in the community. Zoe is a member of a group called Project Focus. Each month the group volunteers at different places.
“It’s just a really nice feeling to know that I’m giving back,” she said. “I’m able to have this stuff and it’s nice to know that I’m helping other people get it as well.”
Zoe plans to attend Drake University, where she’ll study either biology or environmental science and minor in music.
