Standout Student: Highview’s Chinu Vang
This week’s Standout Student knows where he’s going and how he’s going to get there. Robbinsdale Academy – Highview’s Chinu Vang gets high praise from his teachers. His personal finance teacher describes Vang as a lifelong learner and offers high praise for his interest in investing.
“I needed help financially,” says Vang, “and to start thinking about investments as I continue down my life.”
While Vang is tempted to get an economics or business degree and make his investing interest a career, there’s something else that attracts him more.
“My grandma who from the beginning of my senior year fell really ill due to a stroke,” says Vang. “I took care of her as a PCA [Personal Care Attendant] everyday after school and eventually I started to love the job and after her sudden pass last month I’ve been inspired to becoming a RN.”
Vang thinks he’ll most likely attend North Hennepin Community College to get that nursing degree.
But he’s got an artistic side too. Beginning with the flute, and four years ago moving on to the tenor sax, Vang says wind ensemble was a class he always looked forward to, especially when they were playing ballads and soft melodies.
