St. Paul Man ID’d As Brooklyn Park Homicide Victim
The man who was shot and killed in Brooklyn Park in the early morning hours of June 11 has been identified.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office says Dae’Vonn Howell, 21, of St. Paul, was shot around 4 a.m. this Sunday.
He was shot outside the Flava of Soul Restaurant, which is located in a shopping center at 8578 Edinburgh Centre Dr.
First responders transported Howell to North Memorial Health Hospital, where he died approximately four hours after the shooting.
The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.
According to Brooklyn Park Police, there have been multiple reports of violence outside the restaurant.
The law enforcement agency recently deployed a mobile surveillance camera in the parking lot near Flava of Soul.
As of the afternoon of June 13, police have not made any arrests in connection with the crime.
Brooklyn Park Mayor: Property Owner Terminating Restaurant’s Lease After Shooting
Brooklyn Park Mayor Hollies Winston said that the property owner at the mall plans to terminate Flava of Soul’s lease. The termination should be effective Friday, June 16.
The corporation that owns the restaurant’s liquor license told the city they are also planning to terminate the license, he said.
“Things are in motion from some folks that are associated with that business,” Winston said at the June 13 Brooklyn Park City Council meeting. “We’ll be vigilant regarding it going forward as well.”
