Weekend Showcase: Spring Babies Festival Breaks the Cute-o-Meter
Spring Babies Festival at the Bouwman farm
The Spring Babies Festival has arrived at the Bouwman farm at Highway 169 and 109th Street in Brooklyn Park.
“We like to see a lot of people come out have a little fun. The winter has been long,” said Bert Bouwman, who started the festival.
“We have lambs, we got some goats and chicks. And we got a big camel in there,” said Bronwen Bouwman, Bert’s daughter.
The Bouwman family started Spring Babies four years ago as an addition to their fall Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Corn Maze.
It’s a full family effort and, in many respects, a labor of love.
“My dad really enjoys setting this up and seeing the people like just react with the animals. Seeing how much fun people have here,” said Bronwen.
Lots to see and do
The animals are the big attraction. But there are other things to do too. And if you get hungry there’s no charge to just stop by and chow down at the food trucks.
“If you just want to come by and grab something to eat we have all fair foods. If you do like it come on by. And if you choose to do the baby animals, then yes we do need a little fee,” said Bouwman.
Spring Babies runs through April 25 in Brooklyn Park.
