Something You Don’t See Often: Crews Remove Snow off Maple Grove Turf Field Ahead of Soccer Game
Residents across the northwest metro woke up to a blanket of snow Wednesday morning. A record-setting October snowstorm dumped 4 to 6 inches of snow on the metro Tuesday.
Due to Tuesday’s weather, the Maple Grove High School girls sectionals soccer game had to be cancelled. The game was moved to Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Groundskeepers worked about three hours Wednesday morning to clear the athletic stadium in time for the game. Bob Anderson, the grounds lead for the Osseo School District said it’s an unusual time to be plowing snow off the fields.
“We got caught off guard like everybody else,” said Anderson. “I was scheduling my crew to start getting all the winter equipment ready this week. Well, we started yesterday and scrambling, but we got through it. We got everything plowed that we need to and now we’re working on the field.”
