Solar Industry Heats Up
Numbers released this month show the number of solar jobs in Minnesota have more than doubled since 2015.
People met in Brooklyn Park this week to learn about a career in the solar industry. Minnesota’s solar jobs increased by eight percent last year. Minnesota ranks 15th in the nation for total solar jobs. Experts say one reason why people are going solar is because it’s cheaper to do a solar project now than it used to be.
“One big factor is they want to be able to pay for it and costs have been declining in last decade by 30-50 percent,” says Jan Hubbard with Minnesota Solar Energy Association. “Also some are concerned about climate change and want to clean up carbon footprint.”
Hubbard was one of the experts available at a “Going Solar” event hosted by Think Again Brooklyns, the city of Brooklyn Park and League of Women Voters Chapter.
