Shuttered Brooklyn Park Catering Business Shifts Gears to Help People in Need
A shuttered Brooklyn Park business is now using its space to serve the community in a different way.
Haji’s Kitchen was a catering service that opened up in June but closed due to slow business. Haji Salad is the owner. Salad decided to keep his empty kitchen and turn it in a warehouse to store fresh and healthy foods.
Salad is working with a St. Paul nonprofit where the produce is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He helps feed about 600 people a day.
“When COVID-19 happen there were a lot of kids who weren’t going to school and not getting proper nutrition,” Salad said. “I love helping out kids so I end up talking to friend who had a program similar to mine, that way we can help out kids.”
Haji distributes foods in both Brooklyn Park Monday-Friday, 2-5 p.m. You can find his distribution site at 7001 78th Ave N Brooklyn Park, MN.
