Seniors Kick Off Summer Games at Trillium Woods
As the 2024 Summer Olympics get underway in Paris, a senior living center in Plymouth kicked off its own version of the summer games.
Trillium Woods lit the torch for a week of competition between residents on Friday, July 26.
More than 60 residents are competing under the flags of eight different countries.
They’ll be playing a variety of games including chair volleyball, bocce ball, javelin and soccer ball shooting.
Trillium Woods Executive Director Joe Amend-Marshall says the event brings the senior community together and keeps them active.
“They’re really excited, again this is the fifth annual or semi annual I guess,” Amend-Marshall said. “And they are just very, very pumped. We’ve got several different countries represented, so I think we’ll have some fun times ahead of us and some good competition.”
Winners will be announced and medals will be awarded at a closing ceremony next Friday.
“We want people to engaged and involved and be active … while having some friendly competition.” Amend-Marshall added.
