See Dueling Guitarists at MGSH April 26
Maple Grove Senior High’s Music Program has come up with a creative way to raise money this spring.
“The great thing is every dollar raised goes to us,” said Maple Grove Senior High Band Director Peter Buller. “That was that’s just that’s how kind Pat and his partner are. That’s just so genuine to give that much time and energy to us.”
SongBlast
A professional dueling guitar duo called SongBlast will donate their talents to raise money for the Maple Grove Music Boosters. SongBlast is a high energy, fun evening of entertainment.
“Part of our SongBlast business strategy is to be involved in communities doing fundraisers,” said Pat Balder. “We raise funds during the show and 100 percent of the monies that we raise go to whatever organization we’re working with.”
But there is a personal interest as well in the Maple Grove performance. Balder’s three children attended Maple Grove schools. The eldest is a music major at St. Olaf, the middle child is at Notre Dame, and the youngest is a junior at Maple Grove Senior High.
Glen Everhart, the other half of the duo, used to teach elementary school music and says the evening promises to be one you won’t soon forget.
“There are lots of laughs,” said Everhart. “People are on stage doing things they didn’t know they were going to do, but its not embarrassing. Its just all in good fun. Songs they know, old songs, new songs. Pat and I are performers you know, so sometimes they’re listening, sometimes they’re interacting, but they’re always having fun.”
SongBlast will be onstage in the Maple Grove Theater on the evening of Friday, April 26th at 7 p.m. But, the evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a desert bar and appetizers being served. There will also be entertainment from the students in the MGSH music programs. Tickets are $25.
