School Spotlight: Park Brook Elementary
Brooklyn Park students at Park Brook Elementary are jumping into healthy lifestyles.
More than 40 students participate in the after school double dutch program. Physical education teacher, Rick Christlieb said it’s so much fun the number of attendees nearly doubled since the program started years ago.
“It takes a lot of energy to do it. We do it twice a week for an hour and a half. The kids are getting three hours of jumping,” Christlieb said.
Not only are jumpers burning calories but they’re learning to teamwork and communicate by teaching others.
From January to February a handful of participants will get to showcase their skills by going out to different schools and kicking off the American Heart Association fundraiser.
The American Heart Association mission is to reduce heart disease by promoting a healthy diet and lifestyle.
