Rush Creek to host US Open qualifying event
Some of the top female golfers are coming to Rush Creek in Maple Grove on May 7th for a US Open qualifying event.
It’s one of 25 courses hosting the one day qualifier and there is plenty at stake for those participating.
“The cool thing about this one is that the girls that qualify get to move on straight to the US Open,” said Rush Creek GM Derek Stendahl. “Some times when the men have their qualifier, they have to go to another sectional. That’s when all the tour pros get into it and it’s really tough to do. But this is kind of a unique deal. When we host it here the qualifiers will get to move onto the national championship.”
Major event
The qualifier is just another major golf event at Rush Creek.
The venue has hosted many national tournaments, including three on the LPGA.
Rush Creek also used to be home to the Minnesota Vikings annual golf tournament, and Trent Tucker’s charity event that attracted celebrities such as Charles Barkley, Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan.
