Robbinsdale’s Welna Ace Hardware Opens Garden Center
People in Robbinsdale no longer have to travel far for their garden needs. For the first time in decades, the city’s downtown hardware store has a garden center.
“It was the dream of the owner, and we started planning about a year ago to make this happen,” said Bryan Dawson, manager of Welna Ace Hardware in downtown Robbinsdale.
With the nice weather, people are eager to get out. They’re ready to get in the soil and get their hands dirty.
“I’m very excited, especially since we had a long winter,” said customer Kat Tremblay. “I think I’m going to get some succulents over there, and I might get some herbs to start.”
The new garden center has a variety of plants and flowers, colorful cacti, and veggies too. The plants are brought in from Green Earth Growers in Prior Lake. Dawson says residents seem to like having a garden center nearby.
“The community seems to be super excited. Our foot traffic has been up and our sales are increasing every day,” said Dawson.
The garden center will be open until the end of June. Next year the store plans to expand using neighboring space at Robbinsdale Marine, which is closing at the end of May.
