Robbinsdale’s Bird Town Flats Prepares to Open, A City First in 30-plus Years
Bird Town Flats will be the first market-rate apartment complex opening in Robbinsdale in more than 30 years. The building officially opens Jan. 1, but rental applications are already being accepted.
Construction on the project started a year ago.
The new complex offers picturesque views of Crystal Lake and downtown Robbinsdale. It has 152 units and four floors. One of the models for the two-bedroom, two bathrooms, has many modern touches.
A rooftop deck is perfect for entertaining, with televisions, private gas grills, and outdoor fire pits. The upscale apartments also have a bike-share program so residents can pedal to popular destinations.
Depending on the type of apartment, rent starts at $1,200 and goes up to almost $2,000. Residents have to be able to prove they can afford to live here and pass a background check. City leaders are hoping residents will shop and play in Robbinsdale.
Officials with Bird Town Flats say they are renting to a diverse group, from seniors to people in their 20s. They say many are former residents who grew up in the city.
The first phase of Bird Town Flats will open Jan. 1; the second phase will begin in March.
