Robbinsdale Sets Special Election Dates To Fill Vacant Council Seat
The city of Robbinsdale has finalized plans for a special election to fill a vacant city council seat.
Former Robbinsdale City Council Member Sheila Webb, who represented Ward 2 on the council, resigned effective Oct. 10.
The city has scheduled two dates to fill her vacant seat.
If two or fewer candidates file, the special election will be held on May 14, 2024.
If more than two candidates file, the city will host a special primary election on May 14. A special election would follow the primary on Aug. 13.
The winner will serve for just over a year, the balance of Webb’s term.
Webb was elected to her seat in 2021. She served less than one full term before her resignation.
“It has been both a unique learning experience and a pleasure to work with all of you,” Webb wrote in her letter of resignation. “I am very appreciative of having had the opportunity to learn about the operations of the city. I wish you all the best in doing what is the most beneficial for the Robbinsdale community.”
