Robbinsdale School District Voters Approve Capital Projects Levy
Voters in the Robbinsdale Area School District approved the renewal of a capital projects levy Tuesday night.
The vote was 74 percent and 37,476 total votes in favor and 26 percent and 12,855 votes against.
The levy was seen as crucial to the district’s technology infrastructure used to fund a wide range of needs from classroom laptops to security cameras.
Superintendent Teri Staloch told CCX News earlier this month that the levy is the main funding stream for district technology.
“This technology levy can help support, or will help support making sure that we’ve got the cameras that we need,” Staloch said. “Making sure we’ve got a strong visitor management system, looking at our secure entrances and figuring out how to continue to support those.”
The levy, which will generate about $7 million per year, will not increase the district’s tax rate. It renews a levy that voters first approved 10 years ago.
