Robbinsdale School District Featured in EdTech Magazine
Robbsindale Area School District is featured in the Spring 2020 edition of EdTech Magazine for it’s role in implementing a system to make internet faster.
The school was one of the early adopters of Wi-Fi 6 (also known as 802.11 az). The new standard of Wi-fi 6 promises seamless connectivity as districts combat with bandwidth concerns.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, many school districts are distance learning. The district says Wi-Fi 6 will be imperative to support the new way of learning.
“We want to be ready to help our students achieve whatever their goals are,” said Dan Jagusch, a specialist for the district in a press release.
Last summer, the Robbinsdale School District installed more than 900 new access points across 15 buildings as part of an ongoing Wi-Fi 6 update throughout the district.
The district has plans to upgrade three additional sites this upcoming summer. Administrators are looking to those advantages to help ensure a range of future wireless implementations. This may include classroom devices such as data projectors and e-readers. A wireless expansion outside the classroom is predicted as well, with wireless printers, devices used by staff and other needs.
“We don’t want our infrastructure to be a barrier to learning,” said Joel Mehring, Assistant Director of Technology for Robbinsdale Area Schools, in a press release. “We want our infrastructure to be able to handle the unknown.”
