Robbinsdale School District Adopts ‘Opt-in’ System for Busing Next Fall
The Robbinsdale School District is taking steps to address the ongoing bus driver shortage.
Starting next fall, instead of assuming busing for all students outside a school’s walk zone, the district will ask students to opt in so it can decrease the number of routes and make them more efficient.
School officials say the current busing system continues to struggle with driver absenteeism and being short staffed. The hope is the new system will help create “a bench” of backup drivers and result in fewer canceled routes.
