Robbinsdale School Board Selects New Superintendent
The Robbinsdale School Board has named its top candidate to lead the district.
The board has offered the district’s superintendent job to Teri Staloch, a former Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools superintendent.
Board members interviewed Staloch on Tuesday, May 28, later offering her the job.
According to Robbinsdale School Board Chair ReNae Bowman, Staloch has accepted the position. However, a background check, reference checks and contract negotiations are still pending.
Staloch is currently on staff at the University of Minnesota. She was Superintendent at Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools from 2015 to 2022. She was also an assistant superintendent at Osseo Area Schools from 2012 to 2015.
The board unanimously supported Staloch for the role, according to Bowman.
“It shocked all of us — in a very good way,” Bowman told CCX News. “It comes at a good time for this district.”
This comes after the board turned away a pool of six candidates in April, saying they were not a “good fit.”
Bowman said Staloch is “a data driven superintendent, which is probably again one of the most important fits that Robbinsdale could have at this point.”
She also spoke in favor of Staloch’s equity and inclusion work and her “passion for public education.”
Robbinsdale Area Schools hasn’t had a permanent superintendent since David Engstrom and the district split ways in September of last year.
Bowman said the board expects to review a contract for Staloch at a work session next week.
“We found the candidate that we knew was going to be the right fit,” Bowman said. “The fact that this individual candidate clicked the ‘this fits’ button for every single one of those seven people on this board is nothing short of a miracle.”
