Robbinsdale Prepares Plan To Improve City Parks
The city of Robbinsdale is preparing for a revamp of its parks. Residents can now see some of their ideas come to life in the city’s draft of a new parks master plan.
The document, which is more than 100 pages long, is broken up into six parts. Those are an introduction, an analysis of the existing conditions, the city’s vision and guiding principles, trends, recommendations and strategies to implement the plan.
The city said in its weekly newsletter that the plan is designed to improve the parks overall. It also hopes to create more “third spaces,” or places for people to hang out outside of work and the home.
The city spent about a year collecting feedback for the plan. Matt Bazyk, Robbinsdale’s recreation services manager, said the city used community feedback while also working with the firm Bolton & Menk.
“I think the biggest thing is making sure people know that we are listening to what they have to say. We want to make sure people know they are their parks, and their feedback is important to us,” Bazyk said.
Among the long list of priorities, Bazyk said some of the biggest ones are completely revamping Sanborn Park, connecting trails throughout the community and offering more locations for specifically dogs to play.
The city is taking feedback on the draft until Jan. 24. You can view the plan documents and share feedback on Robbinsdale’s website.
The final plan will be presented to the Robbinsdale City Council at the first council meeting in March.
