Robbinsdale Police Get New Fire Suppression Tool
Robbinsdale police have a new tool to help them take action at fire scenes, thanks to the Minnesota Freemasons and Masonic Charities.
At Monday night’s Robbinsdale council meeting, the Freemasons donated ten fire suppression tools to the police department. The tools look like small briefcases. When opened, they have a lifesaving tool inside.
Robbinsdale Captain John Elder said the “FST”s, when deployed, can reduce a fire’s temperature by a thousand degrees in a minute.
“Police officers are arriving on fire scenes five to seven minutes ahead of the fire department,” Elder said. “Giving us the tools to knock down or eliminate a fire, which goes a long way to preserving life and property.”
The tool is designed to reduce the heat of the fire without eliminating oxygen.
Once officers are trained, each tool will go in a Robbinsdale squad car. Elder said the department is grateful for the donation.
In a press release, the Freemasons wrote: “These devices will be a wonderful addition to the Robbinsdale Police Department.”
Minnesota Freemasons are donating these devices to police departments across the state. Interested first responders can contact office@mnfreemasons.org.
