Robbinsdale Brewery Spices up Cinco De Mayo
Wicked Wort Brewing Company might not be the first venue that comes to mind when you think about Cinco De Mayo.
But they are spicing up the unofficial holiday with their own spin.
Head Brewer Josh Denny says the Robbinsdale brewery will offer a festive release brewed with coffee, chocolate and aged in hot sauce bourbon barrels. It’s called “Rude Awakening” and is an imperial breakfast stout.
“It’s a bourbon barrel that they then age hot sauce in, then we aged our beer in after that,” explains Denny. “So it kind of imparts some of that spicy, hot sauce flavor that’s really tasty, but not burn in your mouth like a Habanero pepper or anything like that would do.”
There’s another special edition beer that’s an imperial Vienna lager. It’s brewed with agave syrup and aged in tequila barrels.
There will also be a taco truck available to add to the Cinco De Mayo festivities at Wicked Wort as well as live music.
