Robbinsdale Area Schools Hold Largest Staff Rally Since Pre-COVID
A rally on Monday, Aug. 26, brought together the full staff from the Robbinsdale Area School District.
The bulk of the more than 1,800 people on staff met at Armstrong High School, at 10635 36th Ave. N., Plymouth, ahead of the upcoming school year.
Brooke Schaffer, a physical education teacher at Cooper High School, said it’s the first time the entire staff has gathered in-person since the COVID-19 pandemic.
“When you think about all of the people that impact our students’ lives every single day, from any interaction in a lunch room, in a hallway with one of our custodial engineers, to our bus drivers, to our teachers, our PARAs, you name it we have it,” Schaffer said. “Just so many people that can impact our student lives, and to see everybody come together was really outstanding.”
New Superintendent Teri Staloch addressed the crowd during the rally. She started with the district this summer.
Erin Conway, a new 5th-grade teacher at Meadow Lake Elementary, said it’s exciting to start her career with a new superintendent.
“It’s really inspiring to see somebody that wants to come in, and wants to make a really positive difference,” Conway said. “Her energy, I think, comes on to everybody. And it makes us want to inspire, make a difference.”
The district also filled most of its positions ahead of the school year. About three percent of district positions remain open.
Classes start in the Robbinsdale Area School District on Sept. 3.
