Robbinsdale Approves May 25 Memorial Day Celebration
The Robbinsdale City Council had the rare opportunity to approve an event this week on land owned by Minneapolis and Hennepin County.
“There is a proposal that there be a food truck in an unusual place given our history here in Robbinsdale,” said Mayor Bill Blonigan.
A Memorial Day Celebration is being planned from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on May 25 at the Victory Memorial Drive flag pole.
The flag pole is located on the border between Robbinsdale and north Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Park Board owns Victory Memorial Drive, but parts of it are within the borders of Robbinsdale. Meanwhile, Hennepin County owns Lake Drive, which runs near the flag pole.
“A bit of an unusual circumstance” said Tim Sandvik, Robbinsdale’s city manager.
The Robbinsdale City Band and Crystal VFW will be at the flag pole with a food truck for a Memorial Day honor ceremony, according to Sandvik.
