“Recyclo” Arrives at Golden Valley Library
The Hennepin County Library continues to change the game when it comes to how you can learn in the library. This summer in Golden Valley, kids can learn about recycling in a variety of ways.
“We have a recycling scavenger hunt in the library,” says Dana Bjerke with Hennepin County Library. “Kids can go around and find out the things they can recycle. They can wear a Recyclo cape as they go around on their quest. Then, we have a Recyclo activity book that every kid can bring home and learn more about recycling.”
The educational display aimed at promoting literacy and recycling rotates through various libraries during the summer and fall. The display follows the story of the superhero Recyclo, who teaches kids about the power of recycling. Of course, the superhero must also fend off villains like the evil Lord Waste-A-Ton and Garbage Giant.
Hennepin County Library, Hennepin County Public Works and the department of Environment and Energy collaborated on the effort.
“This is designed to engage and reach families in a way we weren’t able to do through our department by utilizing the libraries, which are a great, safe way for our families to gather and learn about different topics and grab library books,” said Patience Caso, who works for Hennepin County Environment and Energy.
You can catch Recyclo now through September 3 at the Golden Valley Library.
