Quarter of Minnesotans Plan Spring Break Trip To Escape Cold
Freezing temperatures have Minnesotans dreaming of warmer places. An AAA survey revealed that 86 percent of Minnesotans plan to go on vacation this year. Of those, 23 percent plan to travel during spring break when families have kids off of school.
Nationally, most people are booking trips to Florida. Orlando and Fort Lauderdale take the top two spots, with Atlanta behind in third.
Brynna Knapp, the AAA public affairs representative for Minnesota, said beaches are the top destination for Minnesota spring breakers.
“We know Minnesotans really, really want to get out of the winter cold over January and February,” Knapp said. “Spring break is actually the most popular time to take a trip for Minnesotans!”
Many Minnesotans will be road tripping, and Knapp recommends packing a car emergency kit just in case. She also recommends keeping an eye on traffic and leaving early to avoid rush hour times.
AAA also has a reminder for after spring break: adults flying in the US must have a Real ID, or another acceptable ID like a passport, by May 7.
