Police: More Than 40 Shots Fired Near Brooklyn Park Strip Mall
Brooklyn Park police found a handgun, an extended magazine and more than 40 shell casings in a parking lot on the 8500 block of Edinburgh Center Dr. early Saturday morning.
“Forty-two shell casings were recovered and no one was injured that we are aware of right now,” said Brooklyn Park Police Inspector Elliot Faust on Monday.
Police were en route to the location for a weapons complaint when they started receiving calls of shots fired in the area. A witness gave responding officers a description of the shooter and the suspect was located hiding in a nearby business but fled on foot. A police canine unit from the Crystal Police Department was deployed and Police say the suspect was found hiding in a shed near Logan and 85th Ave. The suspect was apprehended and taken into custody without incident.
“We are not sure what the motive was (for the shooting) and are still investigating that,” said Faust.
CCX news talked to business owners in the area who said they didn’t know about the shooting but there was no visible damage to their buildings.
