Police Investigate Carjacking at Brooklyn Park COVID-19 Testing Site
Police are investigating a carjacking that happened at the Starlite Center in Brooklyn Park, which is one of the busiest COVID-19 testing sites in the state.
It happened at about 2:50 p.m. Saturday. According to police, two people were in their vehicle with it running waiting for a relative when police say one man got inside and forced them out. The person drove away. The car was later found in south Minneapolis.
“It’s an opportunity to use transport for free. I think there’s very little consequences in it for them,” said Brooklyn Park Deputy Police Chief Mark Bruley. “They pull [the driver] out and drive it around to take them where they want to go.”
The man was wearing a mask and is described as a light-skinned black or white male.
The occupants were not hurt and no weapons were seen during the carjacking.
