Police: Brooklyn Center Man Fatally Shot in Argument Over $300 Debt
Police are continuing to investigate a shooting that left a Brooklyn Center man dead on Father’s Day.
According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office, Jorell Coppage, 35, of Brooklyn Center, was shot and killed last Sunday afternoon.
The shooting occurred in the 5300 block of Bryant Avenue N.
A private vehicle took Coppage to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale after he was shot in the chest, police said. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to Brooklyn Center police Cmdr. Tony Gruenig, the suspected shooter and Coppage were arguing over a $300 debt.
As of Friday afternoon, police had not made any arrests in the case.
According to police, rumors inaccurately circulated that an officer was involved in the shooting.
