Plymouth’s Fusion Soccer Club Opens First-of-its-kind Training Facility
Fusion Soccer Club of Plymouth is celebrating the opening of its brand new new indoor training facility this Sunday.
According to the club, it’s a first-of-its-kind step.
Fusion’s Executive Director Keith Pavelka says most area soccer clubs rent out spaces to practice in the colder weather. This facility will make Fusion the first in the Twin Cities to have its own space.
Pavelka said the club has hoped to have its own training facility for years and it’s an exciting step for the club.
“This week was the first week that we had kids in here playing, and it was an amazing feeling,” Pavelka said. “We were excited to have the kids out here and see the enthusiasm.”
The building the club is in was previously office space. Now, it’s outfitted with turf, nets and curtains so teams can play on a full-length field or in smaller spaces. It also has different nets so players can practice soccer or soccer tennis.
Pavelka said interest in the club grows by the hundreds each year.
Right now, more than 3,000 kids participate in Fusions programs, with half of those being a part of the 85 competitive teams, Pavelka said.
The new facility will be available for anyone, club member or not. You can view and register for winter indoor programs on Fusion’s website.
The club is holding its grand opening from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, at its new location: 3500 Holly Ln. N, Unit 10 in Plymouth. The community is invited to join.
