Plymouth Volunteer Spearheads ‘3,000 Acts of Kindness’
A Plymouth nonprofit is helping to improve the lives of people in need this winter. Coated in Love held its “3,000 Acts of Kindness” event on Monday at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
The goal is to provide hope and dignity to thousands of homeless people.
Volunteers handed out coats, hats, gloves, toiletries, and other items.
“I hope they take away respect and that’s there’s hope and there’s people out here who care,” said Danielle Igbanugo, founder of Coated in Love. “There’s a need for it. Whether you live in the suburbs or the metro area, you can look outside and see that there’s a need.”
Igbanugo started the event 11 years ago out of her home in Plymouth. Earlier this year, she held a coat drive at a Golden Valley church.
She says many people of all different backgrounds could use a helping hand.
This year’s event also includes haircuts and hot meals. Social service groups are also on hand to assist people with their long-term needs.
Organizers say they hope people continue to be comforted and uplifted after the event.
“People are thankful. People have been so thankful and appreciative, and they feel blessed, and we feel blessed by them,” said the Plymouth resident.
