Plymouth To Host 2026 USA Hockey High School National Championships
The city of Plymouth announced that the Plymouth Ice Center will be the host site for next year’s top national high school hockey tournament.
The 2026 Chipotle-USA Hockey High School National Championships will feature between 40 and 48 teams, both boys and girls, from across the country. The city of Plymouth is partnering with the Wayzata Youth Hockey Association to host the tournament.
Games will be played across the Plymouth Ice Center’s three ice sheets. Two sheets in Maple Grove will also be used for the tournament.
Plymouth Ice Center Manager Erik Halverson said it is a great event for both spectators and players, especially those from out of town visiting the “State of Hockey.”
“People are excited to be here,” Halverson said. “Some of these people have not played in Minnesota before.”
This is the third year that Plymouth has hosted the tournament. Previous years were in 2018 and 2023. Halverson said he believes it keeps coming back because of how smoothly it runs thanks largely to the number of volunteers who step up to help.
“It is hard to really put your head around when you have all these teams here, and what they can do for all these businesses. They are not playing hockey the entire time. They also have down time and need things to do outside of the rink,” said Halverson.
That down time will allow them to visit the city’s businesses and restaurants. Halverson said this year’s tournament is expected to bring a $1.2 million boost to the city.
Teams have to qualify for the tournament. It’s set for March 18-22, 2026.
