Plymouth Pitches ‘City Center’ Project for Bonding
Minnesota’s next legislative session is still months away, but that hasn’t stopped city officials from asking lawmakers for help with their big construction projects.
Lawmakers with the Senate Capital Investment Committee spent several days touring bonding proposals this week. One stop on Thursday included Plymouth City Hall.
City officials with Plymouth are asking the legislature to fund a $26 million project dubbed “City Center.”
Mayor Jeff Wosje says it’s intended to be the city’s new downtown. Some of the funding would be used to build a new sheet of ice at the Plymouth Ice Center, as well as a parking ramp and other infrastructure.

Plymouth Mayor Jeff Wosje speaks to a group of Minnesota Senators about the City Center bonding project.
Despite the divided legislature, Wosje feels there’s a chance it could get funding.
“We have like, over a million people within 10 miles of Plymouth that come in and use these services, and come in and use this. We have hockey teams that come across the nation to play in the Plymouth Ice Center,” he said.
Lawmakers also stopped in Robbinsdale, Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park this week to look at other bonding projects.
