Plymouth Nonprofit Urges People To ‘Shop with a Purpose’ To Help Homeless
Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners (IOCP) is holding its annual Shop With a Purpose event.
From Dec. 12-13, anyone who shops at participating stores in the region can help benefit IOCP’s mission.
There are 18 businesses participating throughout Wayzata, Plymouth and Long Lake. Each makes a different contribution, but all shoppers need to do to help out is to buy something.
Leaders are hoping to raise $20,000. The money will go into programs that support families in need of housing assistance.
“It also helps some of the small businesses in our local area, so it’s kind of a twofold support of helping small businesses, as well as supporting our community here,” said IOCP development officer Christina Hallquist.
A list of participating businesses is available on IOCP’s website.
This fundraiser is a part of IOCP’s annual “Sleep Out” fundraising campaign.
In a separate effort to support IOCP, two Plymouth teens have spent a month sleeping in backyard tents to raise money.
