Plans for 330-Unit Apartment Complex Move Ahead in Plymouth
The Plymouth City Council approved plans for a large mixed-use apartment complex this week.
Dubbed “Highway 55 Apartments,” the proposal includes a five-story, 330-unit apartment complex, as well as about 5,000 square-feet of retail space and 12 townhome units.
It’s planned for construction north of Highway 55 and south of 10th Avenue.
The proposed apartment complex includes a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom units.
Several amenities are also proposed as part of the development including a movie theater, a golf and game simulator, a bike workshop, an outdoor pool and fire pits.
The Plymouth Planning Commission had previously recommend the council approve the plans.
According to the developer, there’s a strong demand for apartments in the Twin Cities.
“The Itasca Project just released a report here in 2023 saying we need to build 18,000 units a year to keep up with demand,” said Cody Dietrich with Dietrich Development. “We’re not even close to that.”
